PUAEME008

Provide Pain Management
This unit covers the competency required to administer restricted analgesics as a part of a medically supervised first responder organisation.
IN AN EMERGENCY, EVERY MINUTE COUNTS. DON'T PANIC. BE PREPARED.
Target Audience:
The unit is typically relevant for personnel from emergency services and/or volunteer organisations or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service.
Course Contents:
  • Basic WH&S requirements
  • Identify the need for pain relief
  • Storage and documentation
  • Administer pain relief
  • Casualty handover
  • Reporting
Course Duration
This course requires about 5 - 6 hours of training, including practical emergency scenarios and classroom assessment.
Prerequisites:
Prior to undertaking PUAEME008 - Provide Pain Management, you must:1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age2. Hold current certification in either : HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support or HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid
Course Competencies Awarded:
Certificate of AttainmentPUAEME008 - Provide Pain Management Aptas delivers training on behalf of Skills Network Australia Pty Ltd, RTO No. 41410
Recommended Recertification:
Those trained in PUAEME008 should renew their qualification every 3 years, or as required by legislation or organisational requirements. A refresher every 12 months is highly recommended.
