Manage First Aid Services and Resources
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace.

Target Audience:
The unit applies to workers in nominated occupational first aid or management roles.

- CPR
- AED
- Trauma, medical emergencies
- Poisons, bites and stings
- Emergency childbirth
- Managing the unconscious casualty
- Multi casualty incidents
- Manual Handling
- Observations
- Use of oxygen equipment
- Occupational First Aider responsibilities
- First aid rooms and kits requirements
- Safety hazards
- Maintaining workplace first aid records
- Work health and safety requirements in the provision of first aid
- Priorities of management in first aid
- Procedures for dealing with major and minor accidents in the workplace
- Safe storage and handling of medication in the workplace
Course Duration
This course requires 4 days training, including practical emergency scenarios and classroom assessment.

Certificate of AttainmentHLTAID016 - Manage First Aid Servics and ResourcesHLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)Please note CPR is included in this unit and does not need to be booked separately.

Recommended Recertification:
Under the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, it is recommended that those trained in CPR (HLTAID009) renew their skills every 12 months, in order for the units of competencies in this course to remain current. It is recommended recertification be undertaken every 3 years for HLTAID016.
